Software Pre-Requisites

It is recommended to install both the SCOM Console and VSAE for a complete experience.

Required

  • .NET Core 8 Runtime
  • Visual Studio 2022
  • Visual Studio 2022 Authoring Extensions (VSAE) or
  • Operations Manager Operations Console component

Features

Feature Pre-Requisite
Sealing Packs Visual Studio 2022 Authoring Extensions (VSAE)
Referencing Management Pack Bundles (See Note) Microsoft Operations Manager Console 2019 to 2025

Note: Bundles are required for Linux/Unix pack creation.

Management Packs

An installation of either the Visual Studio Authoring Extensions or Operations Manager include the required management packs to get started.

Note: Management Packs for SCOM 2025 are not included in VSAE 2022. You will need to create a Custom Management Pack Reference Store and populate it with the packs included on the SCOM 2025 installation media iso.

At a minimum, the following management packs are required for YAMPAT to function as the core UI relies on the elements for things like alerting, class references etc.

  • System.Library
  • System.Health.Library
  • Microsoft.SystemCenter.Library
  • Microsoft.SystemCenter.InstanceGroup.Library
  • Microsoft.SystemCenter.WSManagement.Library

Note: Installing VSAE makes it easy for YAMPAT to detect the directories where the required packs are stored. If you do not use VSAE, you will need to create a Custom Management Pack Reference Store, and populate it with the packs included on the SCOM installation media iso.
